River trolls from warhammer tabletop art got that evil grotesk look to them as well. Same with the butcher from d1, the whole atmosphere around him and his look was just screaming evil.

If we go to the more human like entities of evil we end up with something like pyramid head from silent hill which in itself doesnt look that evil but the fact he is covered in human skin and have an absurdity to his look (the head) added together with the grotesk unhuman strength and dangour he present (seen from his weapon which he moves as if it was a pencil.) it gives an overall feel of evil to him. Its not a matter of personallity, you could have the nicest grimling in the world and i would still not want to allow it to sleep in my home simply becouse its looks scream evil, Carnivora and unpredictability. Grimlings (which is what overlord have gone for with their minions) are in a MUCH more evil type due to their unhuman unnatural body, which scream sickness but at the same type have a very high strength to it, their unnatural Carnivora type face and their robust but long fingers with hard long "pikes/nails" on the end gives the perfect impression that it is something you would NOT wanna have in your home. Personally i do not feel like the imps looks evil, it looks like the kinda evil you would expect a child to do if you gave him the job of making an "evil looking imp", adding some horns and sharp teeth does not make an evil look. So wierd how people are jumping like crazy to defend it, as if i was attacking the devs with a pitchfork or something
